About Nate

Nate Loucks is a dedicated and passionate nonprofit leader who has made a significant impact on his community through his faith-based leadership and commitment to social change. He holds both undergraduate and master's degrees from Bethel College, and in 2010, he founded State Street Community Church in La Porte, Indiana, with a mission of promoting love and justice.

Having a deep understanding of the challenges faced by his community, Nate and his church opened a food pantry on the church grounds to address food insecurity in downtown La Porte. His determination and vision led to the creation of the Pax Center, which provides thousands with community meals and food pantry events each week, thanks to a donated building. In addition to these remarkable accomplishments, Nate has shown a strong dedication to community revitalization and sustainability by spearheading projects like the Jackson Street Community Garden and the Brighton Street Green Space, with support from municipal and foundation partnerships.

The Pax Center's mission is to keep LaPorte County well-fed and well-loved through a network of community gardens, food pantries, and community meals.
